The Manx Youth Sailing Squad attended the IOM Sports Awards on Thursday evening, having received nominations in four different categories.
Under 21 boy – RS Tera World Champion James Kelly
Under 21 girl – RS Tera Women’s World Champion Hannah Howitt
Team of the Year – Manx Youth Sailing Squad
Coach of the Year – Jenni Quillin
This is the first time that sailing has been represented at the Sports Awards in over a decade! Although there were no individual winners from sailing this year it was a fantastic experience to attend the evening. It was truly inspiring to see all the successful Manx athletes and to realise how much high level sport there is on the Island.
I was so proud to see the team’s photo on the big screen next to the IOM Commonwealth Games Team, and the very successful Under 17s Cricket Team, it brought tears to my eyes!
Well done to the Manx Youth Sailing Squad for all their achievements in 2010 we are very proud of you all.
